Home to some of the world's rarest turtle and bird species, Bangkaru Island remains wild and remote, off the North west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.
EcosystemImpact and wildlife agency BKSDA have a team of rangers that patrol this Island Paradise and are on site 24 hours a day 365 days a year. To keep these dedicated rangers in the field, protecting species like the iconic leatherback turtle. We need to raise $45,000 annually to enable the rangers to do their job on Bangkaru.
Raising funds during the pandemic has been more challenging than usual. But threats to the turtle eggs do not go away. Please help us if you can.
Without the rangers, many bird species that call Bangkaru home, could be pushed to extinction. Many of the turtles that lay eggs on the island 365 nights a year, with an estimated 200,000 hatchlings, could be wiped out, by poachers. The rangers also remove piles of plastic from the beaches, that become obstacles for hatchlings on their way to the ocean.
At estimated 200,000 Green and Leatherback turtles will not get the chance to make it in the wild. Any contribution you can make towards keeping the rangers on Bangkaru every day of the year would be hugely appreciated.
100% of your money goes to support EcosystemImpact’s Bangkaru Rangers.
